Cotton t-shirts are best washed in cold water on a gentle cycle, turned inside out to protect the fabric's surface and any prints from cracking. Use a mild detergent and avoid bleach or fabric softeners — both break down cotton fibres over time and dull the fabric's hand feel.

Skip the tumble dryer wherever possible. Heat causes cotton to shrink and weakens the fibres, particularly with loopwheeled and heavier knits where the looser construction shows wear faster. Hang dry in shade or lay flat to keep the original shape and length.
