It's a hip-hop reference to the way DJs search through bins of old vinyl for a single sample worth building a track around. BOW WOW applies the same method to garment history — pulling a specific detail from decades of American and Japanese workwear, military and streetwear reference points and reworking it into a new piece, rather than reproducing an original outright.
BOW WOW was founded in Tokyo in 2017 by Kenichi Gonmori, who also runs Lost Hills, a vintage shop in Harajuku.
Aikyō (愛嬌) is a Japanese word for charm or lovability. BOW WOW uses it to describe how a stain, fray or fade stops being read as a flaw and becomes the reason the garment feels like it already has a life in it.
They're designed and stitched in as part of the garment, not accidental wear. BOW WOW's own product copy refers to this as "repair traces" and treats the mending as a deliberate, load-bearing feature of pieces like the Repaired Double V Sweatshirt and the Repaired Cig Pocket Shirt.
Yes. The full range URAHARA carries is made in Japan.
The range runs Small to XX-Large. One thing to check before ordering: the smallest size in both the Mechanic Trousers and the P47 HBT Trousers is cut on a women's block rather than a standard men's Small, so the fit isn't a direct match to a men's Small in another style.
Yes. BOW WOW released the "Grease & Grit Collection" with BEAMS in August 2025, and has also worked with Maison Mihara Yasuhiro, with READYMADE and RECOGNIZE, and with fashion director Keiji Kaneko.
Wash cold and inside out, avoid harsh detergents, and skip high-heat drying — all of which can strip an engineered garment-wash finish faster than ordinary wear would. The repair stitching is structural, so it should hold up under normal use.
