BOW WOW Heavy Moleskin Work Shirt

Moleskin has a long history in European workwear, valued for its combination of durability and comfort. Woven densely from cotton and lightly brushed across the surface, the fabric develops a smooth, almost suede like hand while remaining substantial enough for demanding use. By the early twentieth century, moleskin had made its way into American workwear, including the zip front shirts that provide the starting point for this BOW WOW design.

BOW WOW recreates the style in a heavyweight cotton moleskin, incorporating period details including the zip front and grommet fasteners. The dense fabric gives the shirt enough structure to function as a light outer layer, while the brushed surface brings out subtle changes in texture as it is handled and worn.

As with much of BOW WOW's collection, the garment is designed around the appearance of clothing that has already accumulated years of use. Uneven colour, worn seams and variation around edges and areas of movement reproduce the patina found on well used vintage workwear. Rather than presenting the original design in pristine condition, BOW WOW imagines how it might look after years in the hands of its owner.
