The #001 is Momotaro's take on the Type I jacket, the original American denim jacket silhouette from pre-war workwear, with a single chest pocket, cinch backs at the waist and pleats running down the front. The originals were made for railroad and factory workers; this is that pattern, redrawn and made carefully in 14.7oz Tokuno Blue selvedge in Kojima. Pleats and cinch backs allow a closer fit through the body that loosens with wear and the box-cut shoulders sit right over a tee or a heavier knit.
Sold rigid: the fades on a Type I are some of the best in workwear because the pleats catch creases differently than a flat jacket would. A reference piece for anyone interested in denim's pre-war roots and a quieter, more thoughtful alternative to a standard trucker. Comparable in shape to a Lee 101J or a vintage pre-war type I, made the slow way and built to log decades.
